About Us

Founded in 1999, the Courthouse Community Centre has been a cornerstone of compassion and community in South London. Based in the historic Old Courthouse, we’ve spent over two decades offering events and activities that bring people together, fostering connection and a shared spirit of kindness.

Our mission is to enrich lives through community-focused events and activities that inspire, connect, and empower. In creating opportunities for shared experiences and compassionate action, we aim to build a stronger, more vibrant local community.

Courtyard Café

Step into the heart of the Courthouse Community Centre: our welcoming café. Here, freshly prepared meals from our plant-based kitchen are served on a donation and pay-it-forward basis. If someone needs a free meal, all they have to do is ask. For those who can, contributing a little extra helps us extend kindness to the next visitor.

In the summertime, the café spills out into the courtyard, a serene and green oasis in central London. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea, linger with friends, and let time slow down in the company of community.

Community Activities

Our events and activities are community-driven, led by our members to enrich our shared lives and environment. These gatherings range from heartfelt sharing on bereavement and death to hands-on activities like walking, mending, making fermented food and drawing.

Each activity is offered either for free on a donation basis or for a small fee, to nurture both heart and body, fostering a sense of care and connection within our community.
