Dying Well

Dying Well sessions are an opportunity for a deeper exploration of topics related to Death and Dying, covering a wide range of practical, spiritual and psychological aspects.

Topics, sometimes facilitated by a guest speaker, are for example: what a good death might be and what preparations may help achieve this; what support and services may be of assistance; how to cope with someone’s death and your feelings of loss and grief; and importantly how an acceptance of death helps us to live life more fully.

Facilitator

Robin Bath

Lama Yeshe asked Robin to talk about death in the early days of Jamyang, and somehow the topic stayed with him.

In 2000 Dying Well started with Sue Aldam and Robin, which they ran together for more than fifteen years.  Robin has also helped plan and been a celebrant at a number of funerals, had the privilege of being with people at the end of their lives and helped with their ritual requests, and continues to encounter why the Buddha taught how profoundly important this subject is.

Diana Opio

Diana Opio is a registered nurse who has worked in palliative care as a clinical nurse specialist and nurse educator for over 30 years both the UK and East Africa. Over the past decade she has become increasingly interested in the spiritual aspects surrounding the end of life, this led her to train as a Soul Midwife (similar to an End of Life Doula), and now offers her services privately as a Soul Midwife to help people prepare for the final stage of their life journey.
